Saron Marine provides potable water sampling and laboratory testing for vessels, helping shipowners and managers verify the microbiological and physicochemical quality of water intended for drinking and domestic use onboard.

Testing can be carried out in accordance with applicable WHO guidance, ship sanitation requirements and client-specific standards.

Why Potable Water Testing Matters

Regular testing helps identify possible contamination within storage tanks, piping systems, fountains, taps and other points of use onboard.

Microbiological parameters such as E. coli and Enterococci are used to identify possible faecal contamination, while HPC testing provides a general indication of the level of culturable heterotrophic bacteria in the water.

WHO does not establish a health-based numerical limit for HPC, as HPC is not considered a direct indicator of faecal contamination or a specific health risk. Instead, it is primarily used to identify changes in water quality and assess the condition of the water treatment and distribution system.

Our technicians can attend vessels for onboard sampling, appropriate sample preservation and delivery to approved or qualified laboratories.

In case of abnormal results, Saron Marine can also provide technical comments and recommendations regarding possible sources of contamination, flushing, disinfection and follow-up testing.
